8.3 Great
Charming hostel west of Málaga city center

It's been several years since we've used a YHA, but this one is excellent, and in a decent location, too. It's a bit of a hike to reach good shops, restaurants, banks, but easy nonetheless to walk into the city center for all the major attractions and sites. Parking, if you've a car, needs to be on the street, so that entails a component of chance. The hostel itself has good amenities, including a laundry room, and the rooms are fairly well insulated for the building being close to early morning traffic. The cleaning staff does a truly exceptional job, and the place is immaculate. Similarly, the kitchen staff is excellent and friendly. We had hoped to be able to use the kitchen ourselves, the case in so many hostels, including members of YHA, so that was disappointing, though the food provided offered varied each day (breakfasts are largely the same, but still have numerous options). Wifi is good in some spots: try the patios (wifi in our room was almost non-existent). 'Good fun overall, and a chance to practice your Spanish.
