GoldenTram 242 Lisbonne Hostel

I paid for seven days and changed hotels the day after I arrived. Very dirty hostel. Four floors walking with suitcase, elevator blocked and reserved for staff. Sewer smell in the shower room. This is a place to avoid.

A terrible stay at this hostel! Dirty without a name, I would even say unhealthy! First of all the rooms, the floor is dirty, I doubt that the sheets were changed before our arrival (bed not made, duvet in a ball, hair everywhere). Hallways are disgusting, smell of urine due to leaks from upper floors. To avoid flooding, basins full of yellow liquid are placed on the ground. Regarding the showers... If you can call it that, it was an ordeal to go wash, afraid to touch the walls of the shower, there is so much mold, the floor is flooded. The toilets aren't washed, it stinks... And the kitchen... you don't want to cook meals there either, it's so dirty! In short, flee! Only positive points, the employee, adorable and the location. This place should be closed or completely redone to be amazing given its location!

Good points: - The hostel is perfectly located. In the heart of the city, ideal for exploring and walking around Lisbon. A stone's throw from the Rossio station which allows you to go to Sintra. - The staff is welcoming and friendly. The boss - without being bilingual - speaks French. Negative points - It is sometimes difficult to be understood by the rest of the staff who speak neither French nor English. - Cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The cleaning is done, no worries about it. But the building is quite old and visibly damp. There are a lot of traces of humidity and mold in the showers. - No breakfast. In short, I recommend for young people or groups of young people who don't have the means and who are looking for a well-located place to wander around all day. If you are with family or looking for something comfortable, I do not recommend.

Do not go to this hostel if you want to spend a stay in a cozy hostel, with a good atmosphere, a good breakfast and a welcoming owner, you will not find any of that here! Only Karim from the reception saves the place a little with his kindness. I don't understand why it is still referenced. everything is to be reviewed, moreover there is no one except a few tourists who have been fooled. Our first room was moldy, smelled of sewage upwelling, there were holes in the walls that were all stained. We wanted to leave but the boss cashed us in for 4 nights, yet we explained to him that we didn't want to stay. He finally put us in a bigger and slightly better room. A major renovation is to be expected on this hotel. The breakfasts are really cheap. The only positive point is its location and its cost: 40 euros/night for 2. Otherwise run away!

Very well located, welcoming staff, old building but clean, comfortable bed, not expensive, great!

Hostel very well located, a few steps from the Place du Commerce. On the other hand, the state of the hostel is disastrous, hardly believable, it's so filthy: moldy showers and walls, dried tomato seeds on the wall, shower drains and sinks clogged with hair, musty smell in the bathroom, sometimes duvet covers removed and never put back, cleaning barely done or not at all on Sundays, the shelves for putting things are not cleaned so you have to buy disinfectant wipes to do it yourself, the mattresses are protected by dirty and slippery plastic films. Beyond this insalubrity, the elevator is broken (good luck if you sleep on the 5th floor), bath towels are not included in the price (although it is indicated that yes on the booking site, count 3€ per towel) and are not changed during the stay, the windows do not close or are difficult to close (very annoying when the hostel overlooks a very busy street). Finally, the staff was not very responsive since despite several emails to announce an arrival after 8 p.m., we had no response. In short, avoid this hostel. It wasn't my first experience in a hostel, and honestly the big black point of our stay, not great when after a long, pleasant day you want a good shower but you dread it for fear of getting shit. ... (Do not hesitate to put your comments if jos dare to go there and to ask that it be removed from the site, it is really not worth 7.1 out of 10, after contacting the hostel service they told me said they needed more "complaint")

I was shocked by the dilapidation and the cleanliness of this youth hostel, especially concerning the sanitary facilities, it's just a disaster, it's like being in a third-world country and yet I've traveled quite a bit and in small remote villages from some countries it was less dirty and damaged the communal showers are made up of 4-5 showers more than half of which have no curtains everyone can see you the floor is completely moldy traces of mold and fungus from the floor missing taps on the ceiling and a damp and musty smell that stings your nostrils in short it looks like prison showers from the 60s it's a shame because the hostel is very well located and the staff rather pleasant and the room rather friendly community

At the price of 15 euros per night I didn't expect much, having said that if it is specified "private bathroom in the room" I expect, apart from cleaning, that everything works; instead the shower was unusable and the sink drain was clogged.

Hostel certainly not expensive and well placed, but plumbing problem so we had to go to my shower 2 floors above. Cleanliness leaves much to be desired, especially in bathrooms and men's showers. No insulation of walls and windows, for noise.

Considering the price we were expecting another service. we rented 2 single rooms, one for the parents and the other for our children .... the single room for our children felt the sewers because it was not to serve much ... The elevator of the last century walked once on two because it was necessary to close the second door manually and as nobody fessed it we had to climb the 5 floors on foot. As far as the atmosphere is concerned, there was 10 to 15 people in the hostel, knowing that we were 6. Otherwise the hostel is really well located, the staff very polite and Lisbon incredibly nice
