The place was dirty (especially the bathrooms and the floor). The amenities in the room are limited (no socket at each bed, no night light, no curtain). On the other hand, the beds were clean and comfortable. The price remains unbeatable for a night in London.
The hostel is quite disorganized. In my dorm I found myself with a woman who couldn't find her bed because "all taken". Before discovering that one was "actually available". Then another woman who didn't have any beds. Her bed had stuff on it. Before seeing another woman who couldn't find her stuff because it had been moved because "we thought the bed didn't belong to anyone". The dorms clearly lacked lockers. Only 4 for 7 beds. The common area is actually the pub.

Really good value for money, we had a very good stay in the hostel, which is very well located. All the same, a lack of cleanliness (dust in the rooms, hair in the bathrooms) and a fairly small room, especially for storing things.
This youth hostel is my new #1 WORST hostel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in quite a few. The premises are very dilapidated and dirty. There are not enough toilets and showers compared to the number of beds. The shower trays were mostly clogged, all the joints were moldy, the tiles were broken with water coming out when you walked on them. Only two sockets on the floor for the room of 6 I was in, the lockers half broken and no individual lamps. When my partner and I arrived, the beds didn't look like they had been changed, there were hairs and dust on them. The worst thing was the presence of BEDBUGS!!!! Our 3 other roommates had been stung and had to change rooms the day before, so the first night we were not worried and had no problems. The second night the management suggested that we change rooms because ours would be under "works" early the next morning. Without further details, we naively thought that the work was to renovate it a little, because it was in very poor condition. And as we got up very early we kept the same room. Without them seeing any inconvenience. What a mistake !!! We had a very bad night and our bodies were covered in bites the next morning... We took pictures of the bugs and showed them to the staff. The answer was "yes, the room is just going to be treated today". Annoyed, I asked why and how they dared to let us sleep in this room if they knew about it?! Their response: "Um... Sorry" Oh yes ! And our towels were stolen.
The comfort is basic, but more than enough given the price paid per night. Well placed near transport to get to the heart of London in less than 30 minutes.
X
The organization was deplorable. The cleanliness of the premises, and especially the bathroom eg toilets, is really questionable. The rooms are tiny and the heaters were on all the time even though it was 30 degrees outside. There were no padlocks or towels available which is unacceptable when you arrive in this kind of place. I had booked and paid for my friend and myself in a 10 bed girls dorm. When we arrived it turned out that my friend did not have the room provided and had to change dorms every night (which were also mixed dorms). The low price does not allow such an organizational error to be made (knowing that it has happened to several people as well) and also does not allow not to clean the common areas properly.
This auberge is horrible , she is not clean, and everybody don’t respect nothing , is my first time and my last time !!
Very nice place, very nice employees and very homely atmosphere. Pints and breakfast very cheap.
This hostel is we situated, the outside looks really nice and the employees are nice as well. But the rooms are not well lit, the mattresses are very thin and the shower/toilets are not very good quality. I thought I was stuck in the shower as the door wouldn't open anymore.
Hostel very well placed for the metro, with a great staff always ready to help you. For the dormitory, I do not advise people who want comfort and privacy (at the same time logical no?). By cons, despite that we were 14 in the same room, with check in and Check out in the middle of the night, respect and discretion were present! The showers deserve a good refurbishment and there is a lot of humidity in the dormitory below (I did not visit the one above). The cleaning of common areas is done every morning.
The hostel is clean, well placed (two minutes walk from a metro and bus station). The maintenance is done regularly and the staff is welcoming and friendly. The rooms are ok.
Even for an affordable price, the services offered are not up to par. 3 beds are superimposed and threaten to break, the closets are said to be secure do not have padlock, and some are broken. Hygiene leaves to desired in both the room and the common areas (WC, showers). Wifi nonexistent. The furniture should be replaced as well as works to improve the common areas! I do not recommend this hostel
Hostel very well located and perfect for a short stay in London
Disgusting hostel there are no other words, rooms, beds, showers, toilets are extremely dirty. I paid for 4j 110 € for me and my friend, I stayed only one night (besides after 2mins in the bed I scratched everywhere because of fleas). I asked for the refund he did not want. I had to find another place to sleep because it was impossible to sleep one more night. This place should close. I put 1 star because we can not even put 0.
Very attractive prices, pleasant multi-nationality atmosphere and warm welcome from the staff. The hostel is relatively well placed and it is easy to get to transport (metro, bus) or even start the day on foot! Possibility to leave luggage before check-in and after check out (for 2p symbolic). The beds are not new and creak a little but with earplugs it is largely bearable. However, even if you do not expect a luxurious stay, some things make you wince: cleanliness, stale air at the entrance and especially in the dormitories, a humidity that sullies the scores and bath towels that in addition to not dry maintain the musty smell ... Very limited ventilation possibilities, especially in a room on the 1st floor whose windows open only 1cm at most ... A cool shot would not be too much!
Good hostel, nice staff. The beds are comfortable, but the bathrooms a little small. A logistical problem made me lose personal belongings that I found only in part, because everything went well.
Hostel extremely well placed, friendly welcome, I was able to leave my stuff in a safe locker (remember to bring a padlock), and breakfast ok for £ 2 that I advise. But room room and smell so nauseating ... 1 night, but no more for me!
I arrived to the place without doing a reservation online, so they asked me to do it in order to get the room, they explained me it was important to have my credit card information. The thing is, I didn´t really want it to use my credit card. They also asked me for a 10 pounds deposit for the key room, again, they charged it to my credit card. We had a small discussion, but it end it up okay, we both apologized. They offered me a free beer in the bar. After the second night I woke up with bites in my body, I thought it wasn´t that bad, but I notice during the day it was getting worse, I had bites from my head until my feet and it was really inconfortable to wear the clothes. I complained and they gave my money back. I thought a lot to write this review or not, cause at the end the staff was nice with me and I don´t want to injure them, but then I think about my self and I don´t want no body else to live this, it was really bad. I went there more than one month and a half ago and I still have the marks in my body and definately that situation defined a lot of my trip.
I had a great day in London and had a great time at the hostel. The negatives are that it is a bit rustic, not very clean in some places, including windows, lockers too small, no hot plate, and it is even bring his padlock, I had to buy one to the hostel for £ 4. But hey, I still have a good memory.
This hostel / pub is really amazing! Very well placed (Baker Street, Regent Park and Hyde Park within walking distance, close to metro and bus), the hostel is run by a top team always ready to help you. Pub noise is not a problem, dorms have a sort of airlock, and other dormitory occupants are generally careful. The inn offers breakfast at will for 2lbs, and also allows you to drop off your luggage after leaving glazed room. Whether you are in London to party, or just to visit, I can only recommend The Phoenix Hotel! :)

Cheap and dirty
Good atmosphere, thank you to Eric who gave me a lot
I loved my stay in this inn very warm and cozy! It feels like home, the young people who take care of it are adorable, and the unlimited breakfast for £ 2 is top notch. Just missing a little better equipped kitchen area, but it's a detail. I recommend with pleasure!
This hostel is good value for money, the dorms are small and sanitary simple and outdated. Hostel quite far from the monuments
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, perfect for solo trips, I really enjoyed my stay there
The hostel is very good for traveling with friends, there is a very good atmosphere in the bar just below, the rooms and common areas are clean in themselves it is the customers who are not. It's cool to be able to come home at the time you want.
The staff was very friendly. The beds were comfortable and the sheets clean. The tables in the common area need to be cleaned, my plate got stuck to the table! The breakfast is worth 2£. It's a good place for a good price.
I recommend this hostel. Prices are low. The hostel is well located (zone 1) in London, close to Oxford Street.
Good atmosphere, good environment, cool people ...
Not too badly placed to access the historic center and the great monuments on foot, breakfast service and instructions but practical rooms with too many people, old furniture and sanitary just ok.
we came back from this hostel infested with bedbugs, a nightmare.
very welcoming people, whatever the time of day or night establishment very well placed ,. Nice building. Nice little corner with smoking tables outside, almost a personal garden a note: the beds at the top are really all at the top, namely
Positive points: Good reception, nice staff, there is everything on the ground floor (cutlery, cup, fridge, microwave, ...), rooms and showers / toilets clean, ... Negative: For those who like to visit on foot it is badly located (but there is the metro next door), no plugs in the rooms (or well hidden) and only 2 or 3 at the bar.
The hostel is in a nice neighborhood and about twenty minutes walk from oxford street. the staff and other travelers put you at ease and the amenities are nickel!
Very friendly staff, good location and attractive price
Good place but not to have parties
not so bad
Experience at very good level
Very very very disappointed ...
We had a great time at the Phoenix! Staff was great, helpful and funny. We liked the cosy atmosphere in the "Lobby"-area - and the great deals at the bar! Thank you a lot.
Well located but unsuitable for couples
Had a nice pub downstairs
I like the location and staff. Drink prices are good for london. bed tags/ labels are a good idea
satisfied with this hostel for a first experience
The location of the hostel was really good. It is a 5 minute walk away from Marylebone station and a 20 minute walk from oxford street and hyde park. There is also a tesco express nearby which was very convenient for us! Accommodation in london is generally very expensive, so for the location and free wifi, the hostel was pretty value for money. *disclaimer: the rooms are small, abit dim, and for the 6 bedroom dorm, there are two triple deckers.
They were nice enough to plug in my android as I HAD LEFT MY CORD @ A hostel in East Ham I return to in 2 days.
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff
Atmosphere was great, really fun staff. The bar downstairs provides a.nice atmosphere.
Price and location
auberge perfect
The staff are very helpful an professional - especially Robert. The rooms are really clean. Breakfast is very good for £2. For hostels in centre of London, this is the best one.
La pire auberge que j'ai visitée
Great experience!
Friendly staff, great value and perfect location for our trip.
Good location
Ok - no complaints
It is just lovely place. Excellent location, good atmosphere, super friendly staff. The best hostel in Riviera, easily. Kiitos :)
Friendly staff, and good facilities
Super adresse
The staff were extremely helpful, cheerful and friendly. It is located at a very reasonable walking distance from Regent's park and Hyde's Park.
Nice hostel. Keep in mind it is in a pub however, meaning that the rooms are -really- only to be accessed through the pub. The personal at the bar is excellent, chatting with guests whenever they can.
Staff were brilliant, friendly and accommodating. Location is good as its super close and easy to find from Edgware rd station.
Staff are friendly.
Location, staff
Staff extremely welcoming and friendly, which ends up running off on guests
Only cheap price.
Staff are pleasant enough....when they're around. Secure lockers in rooms.
Excellent location close to city centre and tube station, very helpful staff. Simple and efficient check in and out process. Feels safe and secure due to keycard locking.
Bar
It was clean and secure. The added-on breakfast is cheap.
